Mark: Yes, I understand. Did you want to talk about it? I am always here for you.

Kaori: You know what, may be its nice to get out for a change.
そうね、気分転換に外に出るのもいいかもしれないわ。
※ ‘Talking to a brick wall’‐ 聞く耳を持ってくれない、意見を言っても効果や反応がないなど、日本のことわざでいう「馬の耳に念仏」に相当する。
Mark: I think so too.

Kaori:Oh, but…
あ、でも…
Mark:No need to worry, I’ve moved on. I won’t cause you any trouble.
心配するなよ。僕はもうあきらめがついたから、君を困らせることなどしないよ。
‘move on’-次へ進むという意味。次の話題に移る、昇進するなど。上記の場合は、「ふんぎりをつける」、「あきらめる」など。
Kaori:Thanks Mark. So we meet at Shinjuku, at the usual place?
ありがとうマーク。じゃあ新宿のいつもの場所で？
Mark:Yeah, will be there in 10.
うん、じゃあ10分後に。
身近な人や親しい友人同士では、‘I will be there in 10 minutes’を略して‘will be there in 10(ten)’などと言う。
例: ‘Give me 5’ - あと5分待って。
Mark: Nice to see you Kaori. You look like you’ve lost some weight.
会えてうれしいよ。カオリちょっと痩せた？
Kaori:Have I? Well it was a shock really…no one expected it, it came too sudden.
そう？すごいショックだったから…。誰も予想してなくて、あまりにも急だったわ。
Mark:Well Kaori, you can at least be rest assured that he is in a better place now.
でもお父さんももう辛い思いをしなくていいんだ。天国にいるんだから、安心して。

でもね、沖縄に転勤するよう言われたんだ。
Kaori:Transfer?!
転勤？！
Mark:Yeah…
うん…
Kaori:And have you made up your mind?
で、決めたの？
‘make up your mind’-はっきり決める、決断する。
